Recycling is almost always the best way to get rid of waste. It can be described as the process of collecting and processing materials that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and turning them into new products. For short, recycling can benefit our community and the environment.
Here are some benefits of metal recycling you should know: Reduces The Greenhouse Effect A report by The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries says that recycling metal may cut greenhouse gas emissions by 300 million to 500 million tons. In addition, using scrap metal in lieu of virgin ore generates 97 percent less mining waste and uses 40 percent less water, according to a report by the National Institutes of Health. Saves Energy Metal recycling conserves energy that would otherwise be expended in drilling ore, refining the metal and other processes of the metal manufacturing process. Energy conservation levels vary according to the product type. A report by national Institutes of Health indicates that it takes 95% less energy to recycle aluminum than it does to make it from raw materials. Making products from recyclables results in energy savings. Recycled steel saves 60% production energy, recycled newspaper 40%, recycled plastics 70%, and recycled glass 40%. Grows Economy Recycling metal creates 36 times more jobs than sending the same amount of metal waste to the incinerator, and six times more than sending the metal to a landfill. The recycling industry in general generates $236 billion annually and employs more than a million workers across America.

Every person in the U.S. throws away about 1,500 pounds of garbage each year. It is about the same as the weight of a Cow. With over 300 million people living in the U.S. today, the garbage would be as much as 300 million cows, which is a lot. However, we can help the earth by recycling. Here are the advantage of recycling. Minimize pollution Recycling and reusing garbage can minimize pollution on the earth because the garbage isn’t being burned and manufacturers can reuse materials instead of creating new ones which is more energy efficient. Every time we reduce waste, reuse, and recycle our garbage- from used plastic bottles, disposable cups and utensils, paper, and other plastic products, we get to save the earth and even millions of lives from the harmful effects of pollution. Preserve our natural resources The number of natural resources are limited. Some of them can be renewed / replanted such as trees, some of them can't, such as metals. That is why scrap metal recycling is very important to help preserve our natural resources- from trees to minerals to marine resources. There would be a chance of human to be doomed If we continue to waste our resources. Create Jobs
Did you know that recycling can create job for people? Statistics show that for every 1 job in waste management there are 4 jobs in the recycling industry. The recycling not only save the environment, but also give people a job. |
